Could you please provide a short screencast? gtk-recordMyDesktop is a good application for this.
Please do the following: 1) start Shutter via terminal with debug parameter: shutter --debug 2) reproduce the error you've described and record everything what you are doing 3) attach the screencast and the terminal output here Thanks for your help.
