Unfortunately the log contains mostly garbage (it is filled with NULLs, wondering why), so the important parts are not there. One thing I noticed is, that you have laptop-mode-tools installed. Maybe it is interfering in a bad way. It would be worth trying to remove that package. What pm-utils does, with the kernel sleep backend, is to run echo "disk" > /sys/power/state so you can try and test if that also reboots your computer. Could you also send me the output of cat /sys/power/disk It should be set to platform. If not, it might worth trying to use the different supported mechanisms, like shutdown or platform.
