A dpkg run on a buildd host showed the following: Removing fontconfig ... dpkg: error processing fontconfig (--purge): subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 After an 'apt-get -f install' run, I could run dpkg --purge fontconfig, and then purge the other newly installed packages.
