I just discovered this problem as I've only used wdm in another OS until just recently. It only seems to occur when using the HAL-configured keyboard. Configuring Xorg without HAL solves the problem but I don't like to do that since that's an old and unpreferred way of doing things.
Until this gets fixed (I didn't notice the problem in FreeBSD ports of hal/xorg/wdm) a temporary workaround is to edit (or create) the "Serverflags" section with this option like so: Section "Serverflags" Option "AutoAddDevices" "off" EndSection Note that this causes complaints from Xorg in your log files. Hopefully, a cause will be discovered and fixed soon as I don't like this workaround.
