For the record: 1. Don't chmod things to 755, unless you disable pre-auth on the unix socket (which might be a good way to solve things, actually). 2. Use dpkg-statoverride to change the socket directory' permissions, owner and group. The package actively makes sure it will survive upgrades. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
