I didn't try to build that package again. Actually I was referring to
a build from the original source anyways.

Maybe the problem is the recent change of net.ipv6.bindv6only=1 setting on
netbase package for squeeze and sid.

Could you try setting this to 0 and see if jabberd works?
/sbin/sysctl -w net.ipv6.bindv6only=0 should work for you.

Anyway, I'm going to address this with a new release soon.

I could build jabberd14-1.6.1.1-4 today on a machine running sid.
How are you building this?
>From the error message, it seems you are missing fix_gnutls_api_changes patch.

Try rebuilding with the following commands:
apt-get source jabberd14
cd jabberd14-1.6.1.1
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
