Could you try getting a backgrace with debugging info? # apt-get build-dep fluxbox $ apt-get source fluxbox $ cd fluxbox-1.1.1-6 $ DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip debuild # dpkg -i ../fluxbox_*.deb Also a strace would be fantastic for us mere mortals.
