Package: smbldap-tools
Version: 0.9.4-1
Severity: important

Hi there!

/usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/examples/smbldap.conf.gz contains:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
# Domain name the Samba server is in charged.
# If not defined, parameter is taking from smb.conf configuration file
# Ex: sambaDomain="IDEALX-NT"
sambaDomain="DOMSMB"
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

Nevertheless, it seems sambaDomain must be defined in smbldap.conf:
=====
mantissa:~# smbldap-populate -k 0
Populating LDAP directory for domain PCA ($SID)
(using builtin directory structure)

adding new entry: dc=pca,dc=it
[...]
adding new entry: sambaDomainName=sambaDomain,dc=pca,dc=it
failed to add entry: attribute 'sambaNextRid' not allowed at \
 /usr/sbin/smbldap-populate line 499, <GEN1> line 237.

Please provide a password for the domain root:
[...]

mantissa:~# smbldap-useradd -a -m -c "Admin" Administrator
Error looking for next uid in \
 sambaDomainName=sambaDomain,dc=pca,dc=it:No such object at \
 /usr/share/perl5/smbldap_tools.pm line 1071.

mantissa:~#
=====

The error is even more clear on squeeze (0.9.5-1):
=====
adding new entry: sambaDomainName=sambaDomain,dc=pca,dc=it
failed to add entry: attribute 'sambaDomainName' not allowed at \
 /usr/sbin/smbldap-populate line 498, <GEN1> line 236.
=====

If I set sambaDomain in smbldap.conf, everything is fine. However, I
would like to configure my default Samba configuration in one single
place, i.e. smb.conf.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
