package: libk5crypto3 severity: serious version: 1.8+dfsg~alpha1-1 justification: huge mess for lenny->squeeze
Adrian Zaugg noticed that if you install libk5crypto3 from unstable with libkrb53 from lenny, nothing works. In particular, the internal symbol krb5_hmac disappeared. The obvious and probably wrong answer to this is to conflicts: libkrb53. I'm concerned though if we are not very careful about installation order that could leave huge chunks of the system unusable during an upgrade. Bringing back krb5_hmac might well be easy. However there's somewhat more of a mess with libkrb4.so.2 and presumably libdes425. That probably affects many fewer people. However it's still a policy violation for things to break in that way. I'm going to need to spend some quality time thinking through this issue.
