Package: nfs-common
Version: 1:1.2.1-3
Severity: important

Since upgrading nfs-common from 1.2.0-4.1 to 1.2.1-3, the default behavior
in mount.nfs has changed so that it tries to mount filesystems as NFSv4
as default (when specifying `-t nfs' to mount), rather than NFSv3 as it has
always done previously.

The fix is trivial (just specify -o vers=3), but since v3 was the previous
default, it is common to omit it from /etc/fstab, and since the mount request
fails as NFSv4, the init scripts will hang during boot, waiting forever for the
NFS mount to become available.

It would probably be good to continue mounting as v3 by default, IMHO, since
it has always been possible to specify nfs4 as the filesystem type explicitly.
Even if you don't agree, it would probably be nice to at least mention the
change in the package's NEWS file, so that one can see it before rebooting.
