2.6.26-21 includes a change to avoid the possibility of deadlocks when logging. In particular, the time adjustment code that copes with leap seconds could trigger a deadlock. Funnly, with dmesg, all > kernel messages were displayed. dmesg uses the syslog interface, so that is at least partly working. However, it looks like the kernel no longer wakes klogd.
