retitle 565698 virtualbox-ose: Gives dadaistic error message when used in
32-bit userland on 64-bit kernel
severity 565698 minor
thanks

Hi again,

for some reason I am not aware of, virtualbox now works for me with
linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem. I tested it with
linux-image-2.6.30-2-686-bigmem (and two other 32-bit kernels I do not
remember) a few weeks back to no avail, but I cannot reproduce this as
this package is not available anymore in Debian.

So the original issue is gone. But if VirtualBox really does not work
in a mixed 32/64-bit environment, there should be a meaningful error
message. When I tested it, there even was a
virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.30-2-amd64 package for the i386
architecture, so I had to assume the mixed environment is supported.

Thanks for your help,
    Sven
