Package: spamassassin Version: 3.3.0-1 Severity: normal
Today I did the upgrade to SA 3.3 in testing. I noticed the sa-compile command for the first time and ran it using sudo. Afterwards, I noticed error messages like this in /var/log/syslog: Feb 8 13:24:14 ossietzky spamd[14476]: spamd: setuid to mbelow succeeded ... Feb 8 13:24:23 ossietzky spamd[14476]: spamd: result: Y 8 - BAYES_00,HTML_IMAGE _ONLY_32,HTML_IMAGE_RATIO_02,HTML_MESSAGE,RCVD_IN_BRBL_LASTEXT,RCVD_IN_PSBL,RCVD _IN_SORBS_WEB,RDNS_NONE,URIBL_JP_SURBL,URIBL_WS_SURBL,URI_HEX scantime=9.0,size= 8957,user=mbelow,uid=1000,required_score=5.0,rhost=ossietzky,raddr=127.0.0.1,rpo rt=33581,mid=<20100206042434.e49f15e1...@gateway.oceantelecom.ie>,bayes=0.000000 ,autolearn=no Feb 8 13:24:23 ossietzky spamd[14476]: bayes: bad permissions on journal, can't read: /home/mbelow/.spamassassin/bayes_journal The file permissions were: -rw------- 1 root mbelow 48 8. Feb 12:59 bayes_journal I chown'ed the bayes_journal to mbelow by hand. Then I ran sa-compile again, now it is again owned by root. Obviously sa-compile changes the ownership and that doesn't go well with spamd.
