I'm somewhat puzzled here. Don't all of these points also apply to most current conffiles (think for example /etc/ntp.conf)? I previously thought that /etc/profile was not a conffile because it might be very risky to update it during upgrade (even if the user is consulted, users might sometimes not see all the implications -- like having dropbear break unexpectedly). > * Add a question to the existing FAQ. > * Rename FAQ to README.Debian and add a paragraph (or a new question) there. > > What do you think it would be best? Both sound ok to me. When I hit a problem I personally usually start by reading README.Debian so my preference would probably be to merge FAQ to README.Debian.
