This was done automatically, so I am not quite sure what it was looking at. If you want to see the updated log from the autotest, check out <URL: http://lintian.debian.org/~pere/ >. I downloaded the source for 0.34-2, and the init.d scripts there (in scripts/init.d) both seem to have the $syslog dependency in place.
