Hi, I was not able to find out why kernel module eata stopped being loaded automatically for my DPT 2044W SCSI adaptor, but by creating the file /etc/modprobe.d/local and adding the line:

alias pci:v00001044d0000A400* eata

then re-running update-initramfs

the eata driver is loaded automatically without any entry for eata in /etc/modules or /etc/initramfs/modules.
This like a kernel issue, are you totally sure that you did not also
change your kernel?

I had tried several kernels including kernels that had previously worked with just an eata entry in /etc/modules without getting eata loading before it was needed to check and mount filesystems on the SCSI disk so I'm at a loss as to what the actual problem was.

I had also tried earlier versions of other packages related to the initramdisk creation, again without success.

Thanks for your interest.

Arthur.
