There are no planned release date. The problem with stable is that
it is stable, and for a very long time. It took over two or three
years to release the current stable version.

But as I have understood this bug is quite annoying and as such
I can try to escalate it for the release managers so they include
it to next revision update of the stable version. Such updates
"only" take some months. I do not know if there are any release
dates.

Until then you can use the deb from testing as it will work
just fine on sarge.
