No, it doesn't. It only recommends nvidia-glx.
That is true, and yet I was unable to upgrade, until I made a fake package
called nvidia-kernel-190.53 which allowed me to upgrade nvidia-glx
Unfortunately I no longer have the information on what exactly happened.
Maybe it was some interaction with the versioned recommends?
