  That is curious... It might be a hal bug rather than a pmount one, then.

  You might be interested to use lshal on the machines to try to spot
differences. It makes a lot of output, try finding out the disk UDI
by:

  ~ lshal | grep -B1 /dev/sda
udi = 
'/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_Hitachi_HDP725025GLA380_GEK250RB38UBKL'
  block.device = '/dev/sda'  (string)


and look at the output of
  ~ lshal -u 
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_Hitachi_HDP725025GLA380_GEK250RB38UBKL

  (well, you get the idea).
