Hi Brent,
the message you receive is due to missing IPv6 support in your kernel. Either 
you disabled it at boot time or blocked the ipv6 module from load.

The current IPv6 stack in Squid requires that IPv6 is enabled even if no IPv6 
connection is used. This issue is known upstream (see 
http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=2753) and will be resolved in 
then next new upstream release.
