We originally noticed this problem on Ubuntu Lucid (lp:579596) but it appears
to also
effects the current version of qemu-kvm (which we have backported to lenny).
Upon booting a VM and PXELinux loading keyboard input is no longer accepted
(so one cannot select the target).

If one connects to the serial console at this point, and then either inputs an
invalid
target or boots a valid target the VNC console begins to accept keystrokes
again.

Interesting.

I run net-booted guests a _lot_ here. A few days ago I were developing
a sort of "live CD" but run from network, so that a diskless workstation
can boot from network and run something useful on it. Quite naturally I
use KVM for that since it's easier to (re)boot, and quite naturally it is
using pxelinux. And quite naturally I use the same qemu-kvm package as
I work with when maintaining it... I never had any problems with network
at that place, and I always use pxelinux boot menu to choose the thing to
run on the diskless (kvm) workstation, and edit kernel command line while
in pxelinux.

I used all supported network adaptors, and I re-verified it again before
replying - it all works for me.

We are using the following version of libvirt
ii  libvirt-bin                              0.8.1-1
ii  libvirt0                                 0.8.1-1

the XML for this domains is as follows:

Um. How this translates into kvm command line please?

     <interface type='bridge'>
       <mac address='02:00:00:60:a7:70'/>
       <source bridge='br0'/>
       <target dev='vnet22'/>
       <model type='e1000'/>
       <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04'
function='0x0'/>
     </interface>

Um. You know that officially e1000 does not work due to
bug in etherboot bootrom for it -- see #581356.
What did you use for the e1000 bootrom? I used the one
that comes with qemu-kvm-0.12.4 official sources.

Does the problem occurs with other network cards?

Thanks!
