Thank you so much; this bug has been driving me bonkers.

I just finished building a "local NMU" of subversion 1.2.0-1 with this
patch applied and will be testing it on my machines.

If it works, this will mean I can *finally* upgrade to Subversion 1.2 --
woohoo!
