That doesn't help much, you need a debug version of libasound2. Please run these commands to rebuild libasound2 with debug symbols: sudo apt-get install build-essential sudo apt-get build-dep libasound2 export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="noopt nostrip" apt-get source -b libasound2 sudo dpkg -i libasound*deb Do you have anything in these files? ~/.asoundrc ~/.alsoftrc Could you try upgrading openal to the version in sid? Which versions of warzone2100, openal-soft, libasound and linux did it work with before? What changed to break it? Please try downgrading these components to find a version that worked. You can find old versions of binary and source packages on this website: http://snapshot.debian.org/ -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
