Hi,

First of all, thanks for taking care of the libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql
Debian package!

What do you think about the attached changes that somewhat update
the Debian packaging files? Please note that the funny version number
I've used is merely there to track my changes in a changelog entry -
I have absolutely no intention of performing an *actual* NMU or
taking over your package! This is just a suggestion, all yours to
look over and decide what to do about :)

(I've taken the liberty of CC'ing the submitter of #512672, since
the patch from the bug trail is included in my updates)

Attached is a 3.0 (quilt) format debian.tar.gz file containing
the debian/ directory, as well as a -series.tar.gz archive containing
the patches one by one, as extracted from my Subversion repository at
http://svn.ringlet.net/svn/ringlet/www/mod-auth-pgsql/trunk/mod-auth-pgsql-pkg/debian/
with a human-friendly interface at
http://svn.ringlet.net/cgi-bin/viewvc/viewvc.cgi/ringlet/www/mod-auth-pgsql/trunk/mod-auth-pgsql-pkg/debian/
I know that the -series.tar.gz is not really in the Git series format,
but I generated it by hand with a shell script loop just so you can
follow the steps I've taken (the 3.0 (quilt) format and the debhelper
override rules were not done at once - in the very near future I'll
create a Lenny and an Etch backport of these changes, and they would
not contain those).

Here's the final changelog entry describing my updates:

libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql (2.0.3-5+0~roam+1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload to track my updates only, not
    a takeover attempt! :)
  * Convert to the 3.0 (quilt) source format.
  * Add misc:Depends to the binary package.
  * Use "PostgreSQL" instead of "pgsql" and "postgresql" in the package
    synopsis and long description.
  * Add a Homepage control field.
  * Do not use full paths to a2dismod and true in postinst and prerm.
  * Minimize the rules file using debhelper 7 override rules.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.4:
    - change the section to "httpd" from "web"
  * Add a blank line to the end of debian/NEWS to satisfy Lintian.
  * Add a doc-base file describing the HTML manual.
  * Add the 03-encoding.patch to allow a configurable connection encoding
and to properly escape client-supplied values. Closes: #512672

You may find the Debian source package at
http://devel.ringlet.net/net/mod_auth_pgsql2/debian/ - the DSC file
is at
http://devel.ringlet.net/net/mod_auth_pgsql2/debian/libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql_2.0.3-5+0~roam+1.dsc
an i386 package changes file at
http://devel.ringlet.net/net/mod_auth_pgsql2/debian/libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql_2.0.3-5+0~roam+1_i386.changes

Once again, thanks for maintaining this package in Debian, and keep up
the good work!

G'luck,
Peter
