Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-15 Severity: important Tags: sid An upgrade from 2.6.32-3 to 2.6.32-4 (right now i am running 5) changed some things concerning devices. They are now adressed via uuid. The post-install script however failed to set entries correctly in my /etc/crypttab. I have 3 luks-partions. All 3 of them were modified correctly, but the entry for the last partition (which is my home-partition) went wrong. There was no line break.
This is how it looked, before i corrected it (i changed the uuids for privacy reasons in this report): # hda9_crypt /dev/hda9 none luks hda9_crypt UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx none luks # privat /dev/hda6 /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc- essiv:sha256 privat UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc- essiv:sha256 # home /dev/hda7 /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256home UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 As you can see, there is no line break in the 3rd entry after "sha256". Therefore my home-partition could not get mounted. So i corrected the entry by inserting a line break: # hda9_crypt /dev/hda9 none luks hda9_crypt UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx none luks # privat /dev/hda6 /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc- essiv:sha256 privat UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc- essiv:sha256 # home /dev/hda7 /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 home UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /etc/keyfile luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 Now the system mounts the partition again. This bug is not a big deal for more experienced users, but could be a great trouble for newbies. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.32-5-686 (Debian 2.6.32-15) (b...@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-1) ) #1 SMP Tue Jun 1 04:59:47 UTC 2010 ** Command line: root=/dev/mapper/hda9_crypt ro ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 85.998732] kjournald starting.
