Package: libxine1 Version: 1.1.18.1-1+b2 Severity: normal Given that playing a DVD and CD shouldn't require a datarate much beyond 1x by definition, playing such a video or music with xine usually has the motor and disk spinning much much faster than necessary, contributing to wear, noise, heat and battery wastage.
It'd be very nice if libxine1 used code similar to http://linuxfocus.org/~guido/#cdspeed to set the speed of the drive closer to the rate needed to retrieve data from the disk (normal play, this would be 2x, perhaps speeding it up a little when in FastForward mode). The above code works on my machine when invoked after I start playing something in xine (I typically use x1 or x2 when watching a dvd), and I suffer no track skippage. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libxine1 depends on: ii libxine1-console 1.1.18.1-1+b2 libaa/libcaca/framebuffer/directfb ii libxine1-misc-plugins 1.1.18.1-1+b2 Input, audio output and post plugi ii libxine1-x 1.1.18.1-1+b2 X desktop video output plugins for Versions of packages libxine1 recommends: ii libxine1-ffmpeg 1.1.18.1-1+b2 MPEG-related plugins for libxine1 Versions of packages libxine1 suggests: ii gxine 0.5.905-1 the xine video player, GTK+/Gnome ii libxine1-doc [lib 1.1.17-1 the xine video player library, doc ii xine-ui 0.99.5+cvs20070914-2.1 the xine video player, user interf -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
