Grmbl, and I seemingly can't post any comment no sourceforge to say why
that doesn't make sense to me.

It's _not_ simply a question of accessibility.

The current yellow is unreadable (even for people with no sight
impairment at all) on _all_ supports I could output gnuplots.  The green
is not too bad on the screen, not too bad on the printer, and unreadable
on the beamer.

The reason is simple: the default background is white. Bright colors
will thus _always_ have a bad contrast compared to the background,
whatever the output device.

Either make the default background dark, and default colours bright, or
keep the default background white, but then make default colours dark.

Whatever the output device, it will always give better contrast than the
current defaults...
”
