Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.7~alpha3
Severity: important

Hi,

Using ifupdown from experimental, all seemed to be well generally, but
at some point I booted up to not find my network connection up. So I
tried

 $ ifup wlan0

and received:

/var/run/dhclient.wlan0.pid: interface name too long (is 27)

This happened to me the last time I tried ifupdown from experimental,
too (a few months ago), and at the time I switched back to sid again.
The version in sid of course works fine.

My /etc/network/interfaces looks like this:

 auto lo
 iface lo inet loopback

 auto wlan0
 iface wlan0 inet dhcp
 wpa-ssid XYZZZY
 wpa-psk <64 hexademical digits>

dhcp3-client is version 4.1.1-P1-2, wpasupplicant is 0.6.10-2,
wireless-tools is not installed, iproute is 20100519-2, and net-tools
is 1.60-23.

ifupdown in experimental is several years old now, so the best
solution might be to remove it.

Thoughts?
Jonathan
