Package: util-linux Version: 2.16.2-0 Severity: wishlist
The dislayed istems are not always in the same order. This distracts finding out the information form the lines: $ blkid: .... /dev/sda9: UUID="d16a2f42-9a50-4489-a788-8624c832a7f3" TYPE="ext3" LABEL="storage" SEC_TYPE="ext2" /dev/sda7: TYPE="swap" LABEL="swap" UUID="8393acfa-d4bd-40fc-8eb9-5ccd8d85e103" /dev/sdb3: LABEL="root2" UUID="50398f34-dda8-4a39-934c-0d3a2c544f42" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3" /dev/sdb4: UUID="6a14db05-0b79-4aec-856d-2d105b1049d4" TYPE="ext4" LABEL="media" /dev/sdb1: LABEL="rescue2" UUID="86cef3dc-c628-49de-a9b3-e3197e543174" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3" ... /dev/sdb2: LABEL="swap2" UUID="1ccf5598-c8a1-4a1f-bac2-49ace0c4ef01" TYPE="ext2" /dev/sdd1: UUID="7899b046-ca44-4cd1-9fd7-a987db88ea00" TYPE="swap" /dev/sdd2: LABEL="rescue" UUID="188f9707-88b5-46bc-a7ec-bf9b31e9d666" SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3" SUGGESTION: Please display items in the same order for each for line. As uuid is same length fore each, it is best to appear first to make the lines appear initially even. The label information is also used often, so it's best to left last for easy finding. Suggested order: UUID SEC_TYPE TYPE LABEL Alternatively label first (for immediate reading), but it would make the display fully ragged: LABEL UUID SEC_TYPE TYPE -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-3-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages util-linux depends on: hi dpkg 1.15.7.2 Debian package management system ii initscripts 2.88dsf-7 scripts for initializing and shutt ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-5 Manage installed documentation in ii libblkid1 2.17.2-3 block device id library ii libc6 2.11.1-3 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libncurses5 5.7+20100313-2 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libselinux1 2.0.94-1 SELinux runtime shared libraries ii libuuid1 2.16.2-0 Universally Unique ID library ii lsb-base 3.2-23.1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii tzdata 2010j-1 time zone and daylight-saving time ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime util-linux recommends no packages.
