Policy only allows these wildcards for the build-time fields.  In
libgnomevfs2-dev (subject of bug 587877), it is a regular Depends:, and
your wildcard solution will not work.

Unless, that is, dpkg-gencontrol expands the wildcard appropriately at
build time - but I don't think it does.
