After digging deeper into the X log file and comparing it with log files
prior to the update which started the problem - I'm quite sure that it
is NOT acpid issue.
Sorry

Let me more clear about the problem:
I run Debian squeeze (testing) on a laptop computer.
I installed the update batch on the 29th of June which included
acpid 1:2.0.6-1 and turned off the laptop.
When I restarted it on the 30th the laptop keyboard and mouse pad
did NOT work under X (the mouse pointer did not move and NO keyboard
event was recorded using Xev.
Do they work on the console instead of under X?
when I connected a USB keyboard and mouse (logitech) X started
working but then I noticed that the laptop leds for Caps lock and
Num Lock are note functioning.
I stopped / started and disabled acpid service - NO change.
And why do you think this is acpid`s fault?
