I'll try to be more detailed:

I'm just talking about implementing a way to change brightness/contrast
through HDMI when using an Intel chipset because I'm unable to find one in
my HTPC:

1) I first tried to use XFCE4 (default and only desktop) display controls
but they seem have no way to do it.

2) Then I tried to use MythTV picture controls but they had no effect.

3) Last, I did "man intel" and found there is a "BACKLIGHT" attribute for
LVDS output but not for HDMI-* so, unless I'm missing something (which is
truly possible), I guess there is no way of changing brightness/contrast in
a HDMI output with the intel module and that's why I'm sending this wishlist
report.

>and why did you report it on the Debian bug tracker
>if you're not using Debian in the first place?

I do use Debian squeeze in my workplace desktop machine (from where I'm
sending this report) which also has an Intel graphics chipset but not a HDMI
output, just VGA, so I'm unable to reproduce this issue. But the HTPC is
running Mythbuntu without network connection and as I thought Ubuntu
xorg-intel was just a repackaged Debian deb, that's why I'm reporting this
directly to Debian.

If I'm messing things up too much then just mark this invalid and I'll send
the report to the Mythbuntu team instead.

Cheers,
Antonio
