tags 248004 + moreinfo thanks I am currently investigating old bug reports against cruft. In http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=248004 you wrote:

If I read it correctly, these are actually two requests: 1) > allow the maintainers of various packages to run it against just their > packages Do you suggest that there should be a way to make cruft only report cruft caused by one package? Could you elaborate a bit more on this? Provide a pseudo-code or example output? 2) > allow them input into some detailed/really useful extra cruft tests Do you mean that it should be possible for individual packages to ship their own explain or filter files? If so, then there already is support for that in cruft. The only bit missing is some naming policy to avoid clashes. But at this stage, I will happily incorporate other packages' files into cruft, until it is more polished. If you mean something else, please let me know what.
