Thanks! The good news is that it was fixed for Ruby 1.9.2. The bad news is that it wasn't backported to 1.8.7. Do you need it in that version? Could you request a backport from upstream? I'm a bit relunctant to backport it in the Debian package if upstream doesn't do it.
