Hi. We think it's fixed now by the above C patch, at least for Neil Moore's case. The patch will be included in Sawfish-1.7 which is planned to be released this September. Tha patch can also be applied to Sawfish-1.5 or later (Probably 1.3 series are ok, too. If the applied source compiles, then it must be ok.)
We received the same bug report from another user. It too involved Java application, and the OS was 32-bit, and the patch worked exactly. I don't know the exact cause of Rojo's case where it's 64-bit. I don't think the bug is present in 64-bit systems.
