libparted's ext2/3 code need to either be adapted to the new ext2/3 format, or better yet be changed to use libext2 or whatever it is called. In the meantime, and since nobody showed up to implement that bit of code for over a year now, i strongly recomend you to use resize2fs to resize ext3 partitions.
