When using daptup on a system where the locales are not exactly the same as used in the apt crontab entry the file new-before and new-after differ mostly in the absence or other language of the description. So in the nightly cron there is many differences. Isn't it possible to just ignore the description (everything after the '-') when checking for new and removed packages? - -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'stable'), (60, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.34 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to de_DE) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages daptup depends on: ii apt 0.8.1 Advanced front-end for dpkg ii apt-show-versions 0.16 lists available package versions w ii liblocale-gettext-perl 1.05-6 Using libc functions for internati ii perl 5.10.1-14 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction daptup recommends no packages.
