A few weeks ago, I tried to build a 4.0 beta on sparc64 and got a failure message like the one you must have gotten, and came up with a similar patch, except it was doing the contrary: enable nanojit. Can you try and see if https://bug589754.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=468275 works for you on 3.5 or 3.6 ?
