Package: nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx Version: 173.14.25-2 Severity: important xserver-xorg 1.7 hangs when restarted using version 173.14.25 of this binary driver. This problem can be reproduced, for example if you have to users on the computer in question and one leaves is logged in but away. The other user comes and decides to switch users to log with his account. Now after the 2nd user is done he decides to log out. Unfortunately gdm never comes back up and trying to change to other VT's doesn't work.
The problem has been identified and apparently corrected in version 173.14.27 of this driver (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-173.14.27-driver.html). Currently only in sid. Please allow the migration to squeeze. -- Package-specific info: uname -a: Linux rock 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Wed Aug 25 14:28:12 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux /proc/version: Linux version 2.6.32-5-686 (Debian 2.6.32-21) (b...@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-2) ) #1 SMP Wed Aug 25 14:28:12 UTC 2010 /proc/driver/nvidia/version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 173.14.25 Wed Jan 27 02:26:21 PST 2010 GCC version: gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-1) lspci 'VGA compatible controller [0300]': 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] [10de:0322] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: nVidia Corporation Device [10de:01b9] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 248 (1250ns min, 250ns max) Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 16 Region 0: Memory at fd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Region 1: Memory at f0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] [virtual] Expansion ROM at fea00000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: nvidia -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx depends on: ii dpkg 1.15.8.4 Debian package management system ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.1.2-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-d 173.14.25-2 NVIDIA binary kernel module DKMS s Versions of packages nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx recommends: ii nvidia-vdpau-driver 195.36.24-4 NVIDIA vdpau driver Versions of packages nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx suggests: ii nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-d 173.14.25-2 NVIDIA binary kernel module DKMS s ii nvidia-settings 195.36.24-1 Tool for configuring the NVIDIA gr Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-dkms depends on: ii dkms 2.1.1.2-5 Dynamic Kernel Module Support Fram ii nvidia-kernel-common 20100522+1 NVIDIA binary kernel module suppor Versions of packages nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx is related to: ii binutils 2.20.1-12 The GNU assembler, linker and bina pn binutils-gold <none> (no description available) ii linux-headers-2.6.32-5-686 [ 2.6.32-21 Header files for Linux 2.6.32-5-68 ii nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx 173.14.25-2 NVIDIA binary Xorg driver (173xx l ii nvidia-kernel-common 20100522+1 NVIDIA binary kernel module suppor ii nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-d 173.14.25-2 NVIDIA binary kernel module DKMS s pn nvidia-kernel-legacy-173xx-s <none> (no description available) ii xserver-xorg 1:7.5+6 the X.Org X server ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.7-4 Xorg X server - core server -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
