Package: vlc
Version: 0.8.4-svn20050810-1

hi,

  after the upgrade of vlc to the said version it stopped to show my
rtsp streams, while mplayer and quicktime still play them.

this is the error message i receive:

$ vlc rtsp://192.168.0.20:8554/camera-101-large
VLC media player 0.8.4-svn20050810 Janus
libhal.c 767 : org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceDoesNotExist raised
"Service "org.freedesktop.Hal" does not exist"

[00000265] livedotcom demuxer error: describeURL failed (Failed to find network
address for "%319%32.%31%36%38.%30.%32%30")
[00000264] main input error: no suitable access module for
`rtsp://192.168.0.20:8554/camera-101-large'
[00000257] main playlist: nothing to play
[00000257] main playlist: stopping playback
[00000265] livedotcom demuxer error: describeURL failed (Failed to find network
address for "%319%32.%31%36%38.%30.%32%30")
[00000264] main input error: no suitable access module for
`rtsp://192.168.0.20:8554/camera-101-large'
[00000257] main playlist: nothing to play
[00000257] main playlist: stopping playback
$

if you look carefully at "%319%32.%31%36%38.%30.%32%30" you will see
the ip i'm trying to connect.

if instead i use a textual name which maps to the same ip i receive the
following message:

$ vlc rtsp://raptus:8554/camera-101-large
VLC media player 0.8.4-svn20050810 Janus
libhal.c 767 : org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceDoesNotExist raised
"Service "org.freedesktop.Hal" does not exist"

[00000265] livedotcom demuxer error: describeURL failed (No port number follows
':')
[00000264] main input error: no suitable access module for
`rtsp://raptus:8554/camera-101-large'
[00000257] main playlist: nothing to play
[00000257] main playlist: stopping playback
[00000265] livedotcom demuxer error: describeURL failed (No port number follows
':')
[00000264] main input error: no suitable access module for
`rtsp://raptus:8554/camera-101-large'
[00000257] main playlist: nothing to play

$

again, the pattern matching looks screwed.

unfortunately i cannot provide a public access to the given url but i
will be happy to test stuff.

cheers
domenico
