Hi Vincent I had the same problem but thanks to the Dionisio's messages [1] [2] was fixed, try the solution described from him:
# chmod -R o+rX /etc/couchdb/ and then restart couchdb daemon. Regards, P.S. If this doesn't work you can try purging: ~/.local/share/desktop-couch/ (but for me it was not necessary).
