Package: pristine-tar
Version: 1.03
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if pristine-tar could arrange to support zip
archives (perhaps thinly disguised with role-based extensions). My
immediate interest is in coping with a pile of .htb (wxWidgets help)
files from a particular project, which git treats as independent
incompressible multi-megabyte blobs. However, packagers who have to
repack overall upstream archives solely to convert them to acceptable
formats could also make use of such a tool so as to be able to
efficiently track their actual starting points for reference.

One potential wrinkle is that zip archives are "inside out" relative
to tarballs, consisting of individually compressed members amongst
uncompressed metadata.

At any rate, thanks in advance for considering this suggestion!
