The viewer uses Ark to display compressed files.

 

For Krusader 1.51 and 1.60.0 (and i guess also lower versions) :
if Ark is not installed on your system krusader will crash.

 

This crash is now fixed in Krusader-cvs,
this will become the future Krusader-1.70.0) ,
but if ark is not installed the a text viewer will used
what is not so usable to view compressed files ;)

So i suggest the following actions:
- close this bug when building the Krusader-1.70.0 DEB package,
  (i guess Krusader-1.70.0 will be released in a few months)
- add Ark to suggests
  http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/ark
- Since the new viewer/editor for the future Krusader-1.70.0
  uses now khexedit as main tool for hex files, i propose
  to add  khexedit to suggests
  http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/khexedit
