Sorry I have overread this.

I am unable to reproduce this bug and I already pinged you on IRC.
Could you please give me more informations about your system, installing
apt-dater-dbg, running it in gdb, stracing the hanging "running"
process, etc?

It would be also interesting if it still occurs with a realy clean
configuration:
* create a new user
* run apt-dater
* quit it
* just add one host to the hosts.conf
* retry it
