OK, that's really wierd. Would you be willing to send me compressed raw e2image of your filesystem so I can figure out what's going on? See the man page for e2image(8), and the section "RAW IMAGE FILES". For what's likely to be going on, the directory names won't matter, so if you are concerned about the file names in your directories (not I care or would go prying to see them anyway), feel free to use the -s option to scramble the file names if that would make you more comfortable. Since the file will be fairly big, if you can send me private e-mail with the URL to download them, that would be great. If you don't have access to facilities to allow you to do that, let me know and I can set up some kind of anonymous FTP upload facility.
