If this post no longer qualifies as a "bug report", feel free to redirect it. (But as you seem knowledgeable, and kind enough to reply, I feel inclined to bug you until I can get my system working:-) Ok, I built a new initrd, after adding some modules to /etc/mkinitrd/modules. I started by just adding scsi_mod and sd_mod, but got the same error (kernel panic) when I tried to boot; I then added just about everything from `lsmod` --except some that I was sure weren't needed, like soundcore-- and built the initrd again. Except for a few additional lines ("USB Mass Storage support registered"), I got the exact same error again! How do I boot off this scsi drive? Thanks! ===== end of messages when trying to boot ===== pivot_root: No such file or directory /sbin/init: 432: cannot open dev/console: No such file Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! PS: - I did google around, so I'm trying not to be lazy - /dev/console does exist on the initrd and the drive - /sbin/init also exists on both the initrd and the drive - I did specify the correct kernel version when building the initrd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
