Ideally, I'd like my tool du jour for managing debian/patches not to shine
through to the source package. So I'd prefer full control. This would
make it possible to preserve the file names when importing existing source
packages or initializing from a repository with debian/patches inside.

While this is mostly about aesthetics, it would also help verifying
that nothing got lost when I switch the tool (as a debdiff of the old
and the new packages isn't cluttered by the patch renames.)
