Thanks for your patches. Was there a particular reason that you didn't
submit them to rt.cpan.org first? I'm rather wary of adding feature
patches to this package without any activity upstream; this is very
likely to cause confusion if people begin to make use of these features
without realising they are Debian-specific.
It does look like the upstream is a bit quiet on the upstream bugtracker;
maybe it would be worth pinging them to see what their maintenance plans
are for this module.

the reason was that upstream is basically dead, as you said. I'll try to
"revive" the upstream author and tell you how it goes.
