Severity: normal

I noticed that the Iceowl calendar client has a problem with a 401 status code
returned by a webserver when trying to read calendar data from a http(s) source.

When using http-authentication and supplying a wrong password, the webserver
returns 401. Iceowl continues to send (by default) four requests per seconds in
order to get a valid result. Obviously it would be nicer to inform the user
about the wrong password and stop sending more requests.
Currently no warning is provided to the user.

The number of requests per second can be changed with the
"network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" setting (available in "Edit ->
Preferences -> Advanced -> Config Editor"). But the resulting traffic is still
considerably large and should be avoided.
When using HTTPS the problem grows due to the SSL handshake and creates a
significant load on the server.

The connected server uses pound as an SSL proxy and apache2 as the backend
webserver.

I hope this information is sufficient.

Thanks for your work,
Lars
