That was what I done. I combined the package from Ubuntu and the work already done by Michael and prepared a release for Debian but I couldn't get a sponsor because nobody seemed interested. The source package is available at http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/parti/parti_0.0.6-1.dsc. I was planning to try to get a sponsor for this after squeeze release and maybe later also try to upload it to squeeze-backports. In my experience, find sponsors in Debian for Python software is hard. If you can review it and offer feedback, it would be great.
